New pool owner orientation in Las Vegas

New to owning a pool? We show you how to take care of it, so you know what to do and when to call us.

Your first pool, in the desert

Maybe you just bought a home with a pool, or you are moving to Las Vegas from somewhere pools are rare. Either way, the equipment pad can look like a puzzle, and the desert does not give new owners much room for mistakes. A few hot weeks with the wrong settings or low chlorine and the water can turn green.

Our new pool owner orientation walks you through taking care of your pool, so you know what to do and when to call us. You get the basics from a pool service company that has been doing this since 1996.

What we cover

  • Your equipment. Where the pump, filter and valves are, what each one does, and how the timer works.
  • Your filter. How to tell when it needs attention. Filter cleaning is essential for a clean, clear pool.
  • Water basics. What chlorine and pH do, how to test, and what the results mean.
  • Las Vegas summers. Why chlorine disappears faster in the heat and why the water level drops.
  • The long view. Why pool water should be changed every 3 years or less, and what calcium does to your tile.
  • Warning signs. Cloudy water, odd pump noises, water loss: when to handle it and when to call.

FAQ

New pool owner questions

Who is the new pool owner orientation for?
Anyone new to owning a pool: people who just bought a home with a pool, people moving to Las Vegas from somewhere without pools, or anyone who wants to understand the pool they have.
Do I have to sign up for weekly service afterward?
No. Some owners take care of their own pool after the orientation and call us for repairs, drains or tile cleaning. Others decide they would rather hand it off to weekly pool service.
What should I have ready?
Any paperwork or manuals that came with the pool equipment, a test kit if you have one, and your list of questions.
My pool came with the house and I do not know what anything does. Is that okay?
That is exactly what the orientation is for. We start with the basics and go from there.
