Why your tile line turns white
That white or gray crust at the waterline is calcium scale, and it is one of the most common pool problems in Las Vegas. Our tap water is hard. As pool water evaporates in the heat, it leaves its minerals behind, and the tile line, where the water meets the air, is where they collect. Every top-off adds more. Over time the buildup turns into a hard, rough layer that a brush will not touch.
Scrubbing harder or scraping with the wrong tool can scratch or damage tile. That is where glass bead cleaning comes in.
How glass bead tile cleaning works
We use a compressor to blast fine glass beads at the scale. The beads break up and remove the calcium while being gentle enough for the tile underneath, so your tile line looks new again. It is the same process we used on the Bullhead City fiberglass pool, where we fired up the compressor once the walls were clean.

What to expect
- We look at your tileA free diagnostic tells us if it is scale, staining or damage.
- Lower the waterThe water level comes down below the tile line so the beads can reach the buildup.
- Bead cleanWe work around the pool and clean the beads out of the pool afterward.
- Refill and balanceThe water comes back up and gets balanced.
Keep it clean longer
- Balanced water. Keeping pH and calcium in range slows scale. Weekly service takes care of that.
- Fresh water every 3 years or less. Old, hard water builds scale faster. See pool drains.
- Damaged tile? Cracked or loose tile is a repair, and we fix that too.
